This is a list of cricket grounds in England and Wales, including both Test and county cricket grounds. The grounds included in this list have held at least one first-class, List A or Twenty20 match. Some of these matches have been Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. Some grounds have also hosted Women's Test cricket, Women's One Day Internationals and Women's Twenty20 Internationals.[1]
Cricket has been played for many centuries in England and Wales. The first definite mention of cricket anywhere in the world is dated c.1550 in Guildford,[2] with the earliest known grounds to hold a major cricket match dating from the mid-1700s and playing host to many historical teams, early county teams and individual XIs.
Teams are listed here within their historical counties that existed as administrative counties before the 1972 Local Government Act. For example, grounds in Cumberland and Westmorland are today within the county of Cumbria, but for archiving purposes are listed as being in Cumberland or Westmorland.
The Oval played host to the first Test match on English soil in 1880 when England played Australia. To date, 10 grounds have hosted a Test match, the last of which was the Rose Bowl, Hampshire when it hosted a match between England and Sri Lanka in June 2011. All of these grounds (with the exception of Bramall Lane) have also held either Women's Test matches, Women's One Day Internationals and Women's Twenty20 Internationals.

The first-class counties are those afforded first-class status. The first-class counties in this section all play in the County Championship, with their matches holding first-class, List A and Twenty20 status. The counties of Durham, Glamorgan, Northamptonshire and Worcestershire have previously played in the Minor Counties Championship, therefore the date of first use on some grounds may not reflect the first first-class or List A match on that ground. Furthermore, the first first-class matches on some grounds have not been played by the county side in which the ground is located, but by other representative teams. Additionally, some grounds have played host to international cricket in the format of One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. Some grounds have also hosted the Women's equivalent of these formats, as well as Women's Test matches.

The Minor Counties are English or Welsh counties not afforded first-class status. Some of these counties have a current representative team in the Minor Counties Championship. The dates of use on some grounds reflects that counties debut in the Minor Counties Championship. Furthermore, some grounds in this section have been used by neighbouring counties that have first-class status for their 'home' matches, as well as other representative teams such as the Minor Counties cricket team. Additionally, some grounds have played host to Women's Test matches, Women's One Day Internationals and Women's Twenty20 Internationals.
